After weeks or months of working five days a week, I get to the point where I’d really like to find some warm weather by a pool or the beach and just park myself. Finding money in the budget for a vacation has been more challenging over the past year. Admittedly flying to exotic resorts may not be in our budgets this year. However, if we can carve out some vacation money, I can suggest a few vacations where you will find warm weather, water and have at least some chance of trimming the budget.
The first place that comes to mind is good old Southern California. There are pushing 100 miles of great accessible beaches between San Diego to Malibu—dozens of places where you can lay out your towel. There are quite a few websites offering travel deals to fun warm-weather places throughout Mexico and other Caribbean countries. There are a bunch of other resort cities in Mexico besides Cancun. Take a look at other places such as Anguilla and Antigua. But research carefully your intended destination, not only to ensure a safe and trouble-free trip but also to learn about the area (culture, history, interesting attractions, etc.) to make the trip more fun. Fortunately you can accomplish a lot of study in a short period of time with a good internet connection.
